Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan son of Nawabzada Malik Muhammad Asad Khan, caste Awan, was born on 8th March 1973 at Lahore.

In the general elections of 2002, PTI chairman Imran Khan was elected from this constituency NA-71 (Mianwali-I). Imran Khan boycotted elections of 2008. In the general elections of 2008, Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan contested election from this seat as an independent candidate. After winning from this seat, he later joined PPPP. He has served as minister of state for foreign affairs in the cabinet of Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
