MANDI BAHAUDDIN/MALAKWAL: Wrong policies of the PML-N leadership have led to crisis in Punjab and the PPP will soon take over it. This was stated by PPP Punjab President Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan while talking to journalists here on Sunday night.

He said the PML-N came to power following the sacrifices of Benazir Bhutto and now it was hurling threats to the PPP government. The elements who are trying to get cheap popularity on the judicial issue should realise the sensitivity of the circumstances, he said. He said Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari paved the way for the return of the Sharif brothers.

The PPP proved its allegiance to democracy after handing over Punjab to the PML-N and never interrupted smooth working of the Punjab government, he said. Federal Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Punjab party secretary general Sami Ullah Khan, District president Shamim Akhtar, Information secretary Muhammad Hussain Shakir, MNAs Tariq Tarar and Nadeem Afzal, and MPA Tariq Sahi were also present.

Meanwhile, addressing a PPP workers’ convention in the Community Centre Hall, Mandi Bahauddin, the PPP leader said President Asif Ali Zardari gave due respect to the mandate of the general elections in all the four provinces and the MQM was inducted into federal and Sindh governments in the supreme interest of the country. He said the PML-N established government in Punjab with the help of 108 PPP MPAs. The governor is the representative of the federal government and is supposed to have an eye on the working of the provincial government, he said and added the Peopleís Party is a party of workers and has given priority to them.

Addressing the convention, Punjab PPP general-secretary Sana Ullah Khan said the party made a clean sweep in elections in Mandi Bahauddin and the PPP rally showed that the city was a mini Larkana.

The PML-N is blackmailing the PPP to save its government in Punjab, he said. It is raising the issue of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while the governments in other three provinces are indifferent to the issue, he said and added the country could not afford long march in the existing circumstances. MPA Uzma Bokhari said the PML-N was confined to only eight districts and it was Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who activated it in politics.
