PESHAWAR: Chief of his own faction of the Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Sami) (JUI-S), Maulana Samiul Haq has appreciated the NWFP government and the TNSM for reaching an understanding with regard to implementation of Shariah- based justice system in Malakand division. He said this while addressing a peace Jirga held at Frontier House on Monday.

Chief Minister Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti, representatives of the TNSM and provincial ministers were in attendance. Maulana Sami urged the government and the TNSM to ensure implementation of Nizam-e-Adl Regulation 2009 at the earliest.

He said he was ready to go to Swat with Maulana Sufi Muhammad for ending bloodshed in the valley. He said Shariah regulation was not contrary to Constitution and for the first time the provision of the Constitution were being fulfilled.

Maulana Sami said the enforcement of Nizam-e-Adl was meant to provide quick and inexpensive justice to the people and not to enforce Islamic values and ethics by force. The opponents, under the garb of Talibanisation, were involved in propaganda against Islam and Shariah, he said.

Maulana Sami expressed the hope that the new peace deal would not be restricted to announcement alone but would be given practical shape and warned: “We will lose not only Swat but the entire country would plunge into an ending violence if this opportunity was lost.”

The JUI-S chief held the pro-US policies responsible for the present mess in the country and the only solution was implementation of security resolution of the parliament. He appealed to the leaders of political and religious parties to rise above their political affiliations and work for the success of peace agreement in Swat.
