| Ex-PPP minister ready to face corruption charges |
| LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab’s former senior minister Malik Mushtaq Awan denied allegations of corruption against him and said that he was ready to face the court.
He was addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday after his name appeared on the list of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) beneficiaries. PPP human rights wing office-bearers Munir Ahmad Khan and Bushra Malik were also present. |

| PML-Q dissidents to move LHC against amended constitution |
| LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid dissidents will move the Lahore High Court against amendments in the party’s constitution, on the basis of which the Chaudhry brothers are holding top positions.
Sources from the dissident group told Daily Times that according to the party’s 2004 constitution, the party president could not hold the office for a third term. However, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain changed the constitution in 2006, allowing him to hold the office for the third time, they added. |

LAHORE: With the expiry of a constitutional bar on his participation in politics just around the corner, the Asia Times Online has claimed that former president Pervez Musharraf – who is pondering the formation of a new political party – recently “funnelled large sums of money into the coffers of former aides to promote his cause”.
The online publication said, “These include former minister of information Sheikh Rasheed, who ...has been paid $1 million – the same amount that went to a public relations team to boost Musharraf’s image.” |

RAWALPINDI: A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi registry on Thursday observed that it was in the national interest to reach an out-of-court settlement between the government and nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, ensuring both free movement and security for the nuclear scientist, but the court would make a decision if there was no mutual agreement by November 23. The two-member bench consisting of Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh and Justice Khawaja Imtiaz Ahmed said this while hearing an intra-court appeal by the federal government on restoring security protocol for Dr Khan. |
