Elections 2013 : Hanif Abbasi lost his seat NA-56 (Rawalpindi-VII) in the general elections held on May 11, 2013. In the past, he had twice contested elections on this seat and remained successful in 2002 and 2008 general elections, but in the recent elections voters of his constituency gave the mandate to PTI chairman, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi.
Born in Lahore on January 4, 1966, he got his early education from Muslim League High School, Empress Road, Lahore. His father’s name is Muhammad Khalil Abbasi. He got his higher education at the FC College and Punjab University. Impressed by Mr. Hanif, a teacher of Islamic Studies, at FC College, Hanif Abbasi has been taking interest in cricket and football.
He joined politics as a school student in 1977. His aspiration after being elected as a legislator is to protect the ideology of Pakistan and fulfill his commitment with the motherland.
He thinks that so far the country’s status would not very good after 20 years. However, he hopes the situation would be much better if a good leadership emerged on the political scene of the country.
First he thought that Maulana Abul Ala Maududi, for his scholarly capabilities, was the best person to lead Pakistan and now he thinks Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is the best option to lead the country as a prime minister.
Inspired by his mother and Dr Abdul Qadir Khan, his top most priority is the sovereignty of the country. On the global scene, he is impressed by the leadership qualities of Mahathir Mohamed, former prime minister of Malaysia, and Chinese leaders.
Business being his ideal since childhood, he is involved in the pharmaceutical wholesale business. He wants the youth of today to do everything with commitment and sincerity.
Hanif Abbasi likes long drive, on the motorway or to Galliyat, with family as recreation activity while addition to good friends is his hobby. He likes Irfan Siddiqui and Javed Chaudhry as newspaper columnists while Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Faiz Ahmed Faiz are his favourite poets.
He likes Paris among the cities of the world while in sports he is fond of playing and watching cricket. He does not use internet and likes tiger among the animals. With inclination towards the religion, he thinks that the religion is certainly a source of reformation of a human.
Hanif Abbasi has five brothers and one sister while his two daughters and a son are getting education at different levels in college and school.
